Without water there is no life: we learn this basic concept of biology from our earliest school years. Water is like oxygen: we only realise its importance when it starts to run out.
Water as a resource is also the subject of study at our CIRC-UITS partner, the Politecnico di Milano: among the researchers involved in this field is hydrologist Maria Cristina Rulli, who together with her team studies the impact of the availability and use of water and land resources on society, starting with food security.
The aim of the research is to contribute to designing strategies for the pursuit of global and sustainable water and food security. To this end, I study the interaction between hydrological processes and humanity.
