The EU Circular Economy Action Plan is one of the key pillars of the European Green Deal. Its goal is to reduce resource use, promote the reuse of materials, and minimize waste across all sectors of the economy. By redefining how products are designed, produced, used, and recycled, the plan aims to create long-term environmental and economic benefits for Europe.
The plan focuses on three main objectives:
-
Sustainable Product Policy – Encouraging the creation of products that are more durable, repairable, and recyclable, reducing their environmental footprint from the design stage.
-
Strengthening Consumer Rights – Providing better access to information and protecting consumers against greenwashing, ensuring transparency and trust in sustainable products.
-
Transforming Key Value Chains – Prioritizing sectors such as electronics, batteries, packaging, plastics, textiles, construction, and food, which have the greatest potential for circular innovation and impact.
The CIRC-UITS project directly supports these goals by promoting eco-design principles, digital innovation, and circular manufacturing practices in the European electronics industry. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, it helps align industrial development with EU sustainability objectives.
