DIN: Setting Standards for Circular Economy in the CIRC-UITS Project

Our CircUits partner DIN is the German Institute for Standardisation and serves as an independent platform for standardization in Germany and worldwide. More than 37,500 thousand experts from economy, research, consumer protection, society and the public sector contribute their expertise to the standardization process, which is managed by DIN as a non-profit organisation. The results are market-driven standards, which can promote trade, quality assurance, social and environmental protection as well as safety and understanding.

With long-term experiences in supporting research projects, DIN helps to ensure the long-term dissemination of project results by implementing them in standardization documents. DIN represents Germany within CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, and ISO, the International Organization for Standardization. This gives the opportunity to present relevant project findings to relevant technical committees and stakeholders. In doing so, the uptake of CircUits results may be promoted.

DIN is the standardization partner within the European research project CircUits. The aim of the standardization task in the project is an early identification of standardization potentials as well as the initiation of standardization activities. As circular economy is an very important topic for DIN, DIN wants to support the transformation to a circular economy in Germany, Europe and worldwide through standardization by participating in CircUits.
